ABC, Georgia, South Carolina

12/12/07

According to this ABC national poll, Clinton still holds a large substantial lead nationally but this poll conflicts with the CNN and CBS national polls we released yesterday which had Clinton at 40% and 44% respectively.

Instead of suggesting that Clinton has gained in one day, we will sit on it and wait for the next national poll to either verify or contradict today's ABC poll.

The Georgia poll by Strategic Vision and the South Carolina poll by Survey USA shows that Obama is within striking distance of Hillary Clinton. Obama receives 59% of support from African Americans in South Carolina.

Democratic Candidate ABC GA SC
Hillary Clinton 53% 34% 44%
Barack Obama 23% 27% 40%
John Edwards 10% 12% 11%
Joe Biden 3% 2% -
Bill Richardson 3% 5% -
Chris Dodd - 1% -
Dennis Kucinich 2% 1% -
Other(vol.) 4% 18% 5%

This ABC poll shows a 6% lead for Rudy Giuliani over Mike Huckabee yet the two national polls yesterday CNN and CBS shows Giuliani is only 2% and 1% ahead of Huckabee. Huckabee has a lead in Georgia which is a detriment to Fred Thompson who had a 19% lead in the state in late October.

Republican Candidate ABC GA
Rudy Giuliani 25% 17%
John McCain 12% 11%
Fred Thompson 14% 20%
Mitt Romney 17% 10%
Mike Huckabee 19% 23%
Ron Paul 3% 4%
Tom Tancredo - 2%
Duncan Hunter 2% 1%
Other(vol.) 7% 12%
