Bill Richardson Talks Poll Numbers with the Media

8/27/07

Bill Richardson says he can win in the west. He continually harps on about the fact that if the Democrats had won New Mexico in 2004, they would have won the Whitehouse. He is also trying to campitalize on his familiarity in the West.

Here is how Bill Richardson's poll numbers stack up based on region and type of state (we averaged all of the state polls for a given month to see a trend). He has a clear advantage in Western states. (The inflated average he has in January is due to New Mexico being included that month).

For a candidate that is not at the top of the polls to highlight his strengths is always a good thing. But he may be good in the West because of name recognition and a stronger team on the ground so it could be a moot point.

State Jan Feb Mar Apr May June July
Southern States 1.3 1.6 2.8 2.3 2.5 3.1 2.8 4.5
Western States 14.5 2.5 4.4 4.5 5.3 4.7 8.5 8.0
Red States 3.1 3.1 3.0 3.2 4.3 4.0 4.3 5.7
Blue States 1.7 1.6 3.0 2.7 4.6 5.4 7.0 1.9

Bill Richardson says his poll numbers are going up. He is gaining in the early states of Iowa and New Hampshire as well as everywhere else in the country. You can clearly see Bill Richardson is gaining every month in a lot of the key states. This has not sufficiently been reported by the media; that is why it becomes so essential that Bill Richardson does so.
