CNN Releases New Hampshire Poll - Different Results from Rasmussen Reports

1/5/08

FRESH OFF THE PRESS

CNN portrays a different picture of the New Hampshire race than Rasmussen Reports which we reported just a few moments ago.

Rasmussen Reports measured the race the day after the Iowa caucuses and CNN measured a two day window.

Rasmussen says Obama is up 10% but CNN says it is a dead heat. Clinton has been up around 4-6% and it could be that Obama's support peaked on January 4th but dropped back down to pre-Iowa levels on the 5th of January. We will see how this plays out.

John Edwards is still within striking distance and as we stated: his goal is to overtake Clinton as the second fiddle.

Democratic Candidate NH NH
Pollster Rasmussen CNN
Date 1/4 1/4-1/5
Hillary Clinton 27% 33%
Barack Obama 37% 33%
John Edwards 19% 20%
Bill Richardson 8% 4%

The Republican race pretty much matches between the two pollsters -- that is if you switch the support drawn by Giuliani and Paul. Considering the fact that Paul received 22% of the independent vote or 29 of the under 30 vote we have to say that either CNN has undersampled Independents/youth or that Rasmussen oversampled them. We won't really know until election day.

Republican Candidate NH NH

Mitt Romney 26% 27%

Ron Paul 14% 9%
