Hillary Clinton Still Holding onto Ohio Lead But Possibly Slipping Away in Texas2/25/08
Decision Analyst had Obama winning in Texas and Ohio but the three newest Ohio polls seem to discredit that as nothing more than an outlier. But with today's ARG poll of Texas voters, this makes for two consecutive polls showing Obama ahead. Of the bunch, we found it interesting that John Edwards would command 9% of the vote in Ohio if he was running -- why he was even included in the poll makes no sense when there are candidates running that are not included like Alan Keyes on the Republican side. According to the Democratic Texas poll by American Research Group: Hillary Clinton leads Barack Obama among self-described Democrats 47% to 44% and Obama leads Clinton among self-described independents and Republicans 71% to 25%. Obama leads Clinton among men 59% to 30% (46% of likely Democratic primary voters, and Clinton leads Obama among women 53% to 42%. Clinton leads Obama among white voters 52% to 40% (52% of likely Democratic primary voters), Obama leads Clinton among African American voters 83% to 9% (23% of likely Democratic primary voters), and Clinton leads among Hispanic voters 50% to 40% (24% of likely Democratic primary voters). According to the Democratic Ohio poll by Quinnipiac University: "Sen. Clinton's lead remains substantial, but the trend line should be worrisome for her in a state that even her husband, former President Bill Clinton, has said she must win," said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. "A week is an awful long time in politics to be playing defense, but one thing going in her favor is that she is viewed more favorably than is he by Ohio likely Democratic primary voters. According to the Democratic Ohio poll by University of Cincinnati Ohio Poll: Three issues dominate Democratic primary voter decisions about the 2008 presidential race: the economy/jobs (41%), health care/health insurance (25%) and the war in Iraq/Iraq policy (16%). According to the Democratic Ohio poll by American Research Group: Obama leads among men 49% to 37% (46% of likely Democratic primary voters) and Clinton leads among women 59% to 31%. Clinton leads among white voters 56% to 31% (82% of likely Democratic primary voters) and Obama leads among African American voters 79% to 15% (16% of likely Democratic primary voters). Among voters age 18 to 49 (61% of likely Democratic primary voters), it is Clinton 43% and Obama 42%. Among voters age 50 years and older, Clinton leads 58% to 34%.
