Rudy Giuliani Talks Poll Numbers with the Media8/26/07 Rudy Giuliani says he is the only Republican that can win everywhere. This is usually defeatist rhetoric spewed out by a candidate that is struggling in the early states. He is basically telling voters to ignore his poor poll numbers in Iowa and New Hampshire because not only is he the leader of all the Republicans according to the national polls but he does far better in head to head matchups with the Democrats. Joe Lieberman said the same thing in 2004. This is a table of the latest polls across the USA, in Iowa, and in New Hampshire.
The poll above shows Giuliani in a dead heat with Romney in New Hampshire but the majority of polls leading up to the latest New Hampshire poll by American Research Group showed a clear Romney advantage. Based on the fact that he has almost a 3:1 edge over the second place competitor, I would say the he is definitely stresses a correct point in that he is leading the national polls. That does not really mean he has the best chance of winning but he would like it reported that way. Rudy Giuliani also does better against the Democrats than any other Republican candidate.
