Support from independents and Hispanic voters seems to be helping to put Obama over the top for the time being in this narrow contest. He has a 57-36 lead with the former group and has opened up a 55-42 advantage with the latter.

Obama has banked a significant lead with those who have already voted in the Sunshine State. He is up 56-43 with them but trails John McCain 54-42 with those planning to wait until election day to vote.

Floridas going to be close, said Dean Debnam, the President of Public Policy Polling. The issue is whether the election day ground game for the Republicans will be able to match the good job the Democrats have already done of getting their voters out to the polls. You have to give Obama the slight advantage based on the fact that his supporters have already gotten out and voted.

Obama leads by five points with women while the candidates are tied with men. The campaigns are roughly even among middle aged voters, but Obama has a 63-34 advantage with voters under 30 while McCain has the 55-42 edge with those over 65.
