Obama Nears Kerry '04 Levels of Support in Massachusetts: Native Son John Kerry carried Massachusetts' 12 Electoral College votes by 25 points in 2004. Today, 10/15/08, 20 days to the vote, Democrat Barack Obama leads Republican John McCain by 24 points in the Bay State, according to this latest exclusive WBZ-TV News poll conducted by SurveyUSA. Obama takes 59% in a vote today; McCain takes 35%. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll released three weeks ago, Obama is up 4 points; McCain is down 4 points. Obama takes the majority of the vote among both men and women, young and old, white and black, rich and poor, well educated and less educated, and in all regions of the state. McCain leads among Republicans, conservatives, pro-life voters, and gun owners. 11% of Republicans cross over to vote for Obama; 14% of Democrats cross over to vote for McCain; Independents favor Obama by 8 points.
