In the 2008 Battle for Gettysburg, McCain's Charge Appears to Strand Him on Cemetery Ridge: 24 hours until votes are counted in the battle for Pennsylvania, Democrat Barack Obama appears to fend off a 3rd charge from Republican John McCain, and appears to prevent the advance of McCain's army. As the gun-powder clears, SurveyUSA makes it out to be Obama 52%, McCain 43%, in interviewing completed Monday night, Election Eve. Obama holds Southeastern PA, surrenders South Central PA and West Central PA. Men rally to McCain in the end, but not by enough to offset Obama's advantage among Keystone women. Whites split. Every black vote adds to Obama's margin. 1,600 PA adults interviewed 10/31/08 through 11/03/08, yielding 1,464 registered voters, of whom 657 were read this version of the questionnaire. Research underwritten by WCAU-TV Philadelphia, KDKA-TV Pittsburgh, WNEP-TV Scranton, WHTM-TV Harrisburg, and WJAC-TV Johnstown.
