America's Optimism In Light Of Gloomy Days

40% of voters now say America's best days are in the future, marking the lowest level of optimism since early July.
45% of voters say the country's best days are in the past, also the highest level of pessimism since July 4.
Democrats share more hope for the future than Republicans and unaffiliated voters. Over half (51%) of Democrats say the nation's best days lie ahead, compared to 33% of Republicans and unaffiliated voters.

With a new year ahead, we all have the opportunity to change our lives and hope for a brighter future. In a recent Rasmussen telephone poll, though, some Americans feel that America's best days are in the past. This author disagrees.

Part of what makes America so great is her optimism and ingenuity, and even though we all are facing tough economic times, this author yet feels that the best times are yet to come.

As Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, "there is nothing to fear but fear itself," and in this context, we all must not fear the unknown but embrace the possibility of a better tomorrow.
