Americans Divided Over Gun Control4/8/09 Tags: Gun Control From Gallup (conducted: 4/1-2/09)
» Commentary by Kris Lazaro (registered Democrat) As news of hand gun violence escalates around the country, one has to wonder the merits of gun control and whether or not the average citizen should have access to firearms. In a recent Gallup poll study, the organization found that Americans are indeed divided on the issue. Only a small fraction, 29%, say that firearms should totally be banned. To this author, gun control has been a fundamental right afforded to Americans since our country's inception. But, times are changing, and we need to start regulating who gets access to these dangerous weapons. One way to control gun violence would be to limit access. Another way would be to heavily tax gun owners, or to make bullets very expensive for the average consumer to buy. People should be discourage from owning a gun, since no real good can come out from owning such a weapon. Check Gmail, Facebook, and IM simultaneously with Digsby.
