Americans Oppose Tax Hike On Gasoline5/11/09 Tags: Taxes From Rasmussen (conducted: 5/6-7/09)
» Commentary by Kris Lazaro (registered Democrat) The government has recently hinted that it would like to increase the gasoline taxes in order to encourage people to buy more fuel efficient vehicles. While this may sound like a good idea at first, if one really looks at the effects of this increased burden, the average American cannot really afford this tax hike. Instead of increasing the gasoline tax, the government needs to lower the cost of the actual fuel-efficient vehicle to help stimulate its sales. People right now are suffering, and increasing the cost of gasoline will only make the problem worse. Americans in this poll agree with this author in opposing such a tax hike. We don't need any other superfluous taxes, unless those taxes actually provide for the common good. Check Gmail, Facebook, and IM simultaneously with Digsby.
