31% of Californians blame Schwarzenegger, 27% blame Democrats for the budget crisis in California.
76% think that the budget this year is more important to them than in past years.
65% think it is very important for the California state legislature to pass a budget.

Schwarzenegger said this in a statement:

"It's outrageous that the Legislature would ask Californians to pay higher taxes but refuse to cut the pay of state workers by 5 percent," Schwarzenegger said in a statement. "This is exactly why so many Californians have lost faith in Sacramento's ability to solve problems."

Business Week had this to say yesterday:

California's economy is in deep distress. Political gridlock is preventing tax increases and spending cuts, and the recession has pushed its deficit over the edge.

The Sacramento Bee had this to say today:

Two of California's top pollsters said Tuesday that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and some lawmakers are miscasting last month's special election as a clarion call against any new taxes to solve California's fiscal crisis.
Instead, pollsters Mark DiCamillo and Mark Baldassare characterized the May 19 vote against five budget measures as an order to a dysfunctional state government to fix California's budget mess � and do so quickly.
