Democratic Party Favorability Highest in 10 Years

  • The net favorability of the Democratic party is the highest in CBS News' history of polling since June 1999.
  • Support for legal marriage between gay couples have dropped from 42% in April to 33% to June.
  • Views on abortion are unchanged, 62% either want stricter limits or for it to be not permitted but 64% of adults do not want Roe v Wade overturned.

Obama is upsetting the true progressives in the country. He is not fighting for an universal single payer health care system but instead opting for more insurance. Instead of fighting for gay rights, in a statement he puts it at the same level as incest and pedophilia.

While the extreme left is not getting what they want, Obama is trying to reach out to both sides of the aisle. And he is doing so effectively.

According to CBS News, 57% have a favorable view of the Democratic party and 32% have an unfavorable view. A net positive rating of 25%. This is the highest in CBS News' 10 year history of polling the question.

Unfortunately, as the Obama administration says harsh things about gay marriage, support for legal marriage among adults has also dropped. According to CBS News, it reached a high of 42% in April but has come back down to 33% about where it had been before.

Abortion is a tricky topic. While it may be the goal of the traditional wing of the Conservative party to overturn Roe V. Wade, they would have to get there by insituting stricter limits on abortions. The latest poll shows that 21% of people do not believe abortion should be permitted but an additional 41% of adults wanting stricter limits on abortion. It is that middle ground that
