» Commentary by Kris Lazaro (registered Democrat)

On the third Monday of January every year since 1986, Americans relfect on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He is perhaps the most influential figure in racial equality this past century and this author is a little disappointed that not more Americans have a favorable opinion of the great civil rights leaders.

On the eve of the inauguration of Barack Obama, it is fitting that we celebrate how far this country has come. We have to stay vigilant, though, to not let those who hate and descriminate have the power to influence.
