From Gallup (conducted: 1/27-29/09)

  • Only 17% of Americans are satisfied with the way things are going in the country
  • This is slightly better than the 13% seen right before the inauguration and before the elections in November
  • In 1999 and 2002, satisfaction were at its highest, sitting at 60%

» Commentary by Kris Lazaro (registered Democrat)

It will take time for us to get back on our feet. In a recent Gallup poll, almost 83% of those asked felt they were unsatisfied with how things are going with this country.

Surprisingly, this satisfaction rating is directly correlated to the economy. As more people are prosperous, the more satisfied they are with the state of the country.

This author remains optimistic, though, that under a new type of leadership, we will be able to get out of this rut and once again prosper. Americans always bounce back from these types of adversity, and this situation is no different.
